Fundamentem każdego projektu współpracy międzyregionalnej jest wymiana doświadczeń pomiędzy partnerami, tworząca proces międzyregionalnego (jak również międzynarodowego) uczenia się. Stanowi ona główny katalizator generowania spodziewanych zmian w politykach regionów partnerskich. Typowe działania wspierane w ramach projektów współpracy międzyregionalnej to m.in. seminaria, warsztaty, wizyty na miejscu, wymiany pracowników, wzajemne oceny itp. Proces uczenia opiera się na identyfikacji, analizie i wymianie wiedzy oraz praktyk w zakresie polityk z dziedziny, której dotyczy dany projekt.

Projekty współpracy międzyregionalnej obejmują analizę doświadczeń lub praktyk, które wymieniane są pomiędzy osobami realizującymi projekty, a także upowszechnianie najbardziej interesujących rezultatów.

Projekt REMIX obejmował wiele różnych form współpracy i wymiany doświadczeń. Do najważniejszych należą wspólnie organizowane konferencje, warsztaty oraz wzajemne oceny (peer review).
