Re. Health Programme Call for Proposals
http://ec.europa.eu/health/programme/how_does_it_work/call_for_proposals/index_en.htm East of England Brussels Office has received a request from our regional partners at Essex County Council, UK who are interested in participating in the Health Programme Call, specifically in the field of Health Inequalities (ie. particularly relevant to ‘Foster healthier ways of life and the reduction of health inequalities’, and ‘ Promote healthier ways of life and reduce major diseases and injuries by tackling health determinants ‘)

The

Essex CC has particular interest and experience in working on Health inequalities matters, and has found that within its borders there is an 18 year discrepancy in life expectancy between geographical areas. Health inequalities are a key priority for the County.

At this stage Essex CC is interested in finding out whether any projects are looking for UK local authority partners to join a partnership. It is not looking to lead a project itself, but rather it wishes to offer its expertise as a partner joining a consortium.

Essex CC is specifically interested in projects that address:-
• Sharing health information/data (2.1.2)
• Teenage pregnancy
• Volunteering for people with mental health concerns
• Alcohol and smoke-free homes
• Telecare and assisted technology
• Healthy activities for disadvantaged children
